Designed for Every Moment

Gillian Stevens is an editorial lifestyle photographer and fashion designer based in Vancouver's creative scene. Her creative background influences her approach to interior design to create warm and meaningful spaces that highlight natural materials. A few years back, she welcomed an Atlin table in white oak into her family’s dining room. The Atlin's natural finish and durable materiality made it the right addition to the Stevens' home, where Gillian is raising three young boys and where she enjoys gathering friends and entertaining.

Over the years, the Atlin has played many roles in her home—it’s been the gracious co-host at dinner parties, the silent witness to heartfelt conversations, and the canvas for spilled laughter. It's where ideas took flight and dreams found their beginning. At breakfast time, it became a sanctuary for Gillian's young sons, a stage for playful chaos and childhood discovery.

As the Stevens’ life story seeped into the solid wood, the Atlin changed, developing a patina. Gillian turned to Lock & Mortice, seeking a refinishing service for her table. Once we set up an appointment time, our refinishing crew made their way to her home and restored the Atlin to its former hue. The refinishing process includes the reapplication of the hand-applied oil finish that penetrates the wood surface, adding hardness and stain resistance to ensure the refinish lasts for years to come.

Because our products are made of solid wood and finished with LED oils, we can offer a promise of longevity and peace of mind. Let our pieces be life's canvas: play, spill, live, secure in the knowledge that you can request a restoration treatment. It will be the same piece you've cherished for years, restored.

Our reverence for solid wood extends beyond its inherent beauty to embrace its resilience. We believe our creations are meant to be experienced, to withstand the spills, the messes, and the beautiful chaos of life, without compromise. While we encourage our clients to welcome and celebrate the way natural wood evolves, we understand that these changes may not fit into the carefully curated aesthetic of your space. When that's the case, we are happy to provide refinishing services, whether on- or off-site.
